The GSWO not only focuses on excellent performances, but also in giving back through educational programs. Here are some available opportunities.
INTERNATIONAL MAKE MUSIC DAY
The GSWO and Tim’s Music join the worldwide Make Music Day celebrations with a small music festival on Tuesday, June 21, 2016. Make Music Day is a one day event where free, live musical performances, opportunities to make music, and other musical events take place around the world on the longest day of the year. Musical festivities in Sacramento are part of a global celebration of music making in over 700 cities inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique.
CLINICS and WORKSHOPS
The GSWO will make itself available to your school in order to help your students' musical needs. A majority of the ensemble is made up of music educators and pride themselves on being able to connect the educational aspects of music and high quality performance. We are able to send members to visit your school and provide support for you and your program.
Our members are trained professionals and many of them have studios of their own. If you are in need of a private teacher, contact us and we will get you in touch with one of our musicians!
Starting in the 2017-2018 season, our maestro Marlon A. Ramirez will be taking an apprentice. This will consist of conducting and educational advancement with the group. Applications will be accepted starting Spring 2017. Each apprenticeship will last one season.
Our maestro is in talks to start a scholarship for student artists at the college level. More details to come.
We are planning on introducing two competitions in the future: a composer's competition and a student artist's competition. More details to come.
